Newell Brands quarterly sales fall 13 pct

Aug 6 (Reuters) – Newell Brands Inc’s quarterly sales fell 13 percent on Monday due to cut backs in inventory by retailers for its writing products and as the bankruptcy of Babies R Us weighed on sales of its baby products.

Net income fell to $131.7 million, or 27 cents per share, in the second-quarter ended June 30, from $223 million, or 46 cents per share, a year earlier.

Net sales fell about 13 percent to $2.20 billion. (Reporting by Nivedita Balu in Bengaluru; Editing by Shailesh Kuber)
