George Takei, the previous “Star Trek” actor accused of creating an undesirable advance on a former mannequin a long time in the past, issued a denial on Saturday during which he claimed to be “shocked and bewildered” by the information.
Late Friday, The Hollywood Reporter reported that Scott R. Brunton claimed Takei groped him with out consent in an incident on the actor’s dwelling in 1981. Brunton, who was 23 on the time, instructed the publication he handed out and allegedly awoke to seek out Takei making an attempt to take away his underwear.
The overtly homosexual actor was sharply criticized because the Hollywood Report story went viral on social media. But Takei strongly denied the accusation in a Facebook post, saying the incident “merely didn’t happen, and I have no idea why he has claimed them now.”
The declare towards Takei comes as Hollywood is reeling from a litany of accusations of sexual impropriety leveled towards high-profile figures in the industry. Not too long ago, Takei himself strongly denounced actor Kevin Spacey, who publicly revealed he was homosexual as he came under withering pressure for allegedly sexually assaulting 15 young men.
“I’ve wracked my mind to ask if I keep in mind Mr. Brunton, and I can’t say I do,” Takei wrote on his Fb web page. “However I do take these claims very critically, and I needed to supply my response thoughtfully and never out of the second.”
“Proper now it’s a he stated / he stated state of affairs, over alleged occasions almost 40 years in the past. However people who know me perceive that non-consensual acts are so antithetical to my values and my practices, the very concept that somebody would accuse me of that is fairly personally painful,” Takei wrote.
