Investing.com – Germany stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the , and sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Frankfurt, the lost 2.19% to hit a new 3-months low, while the index declined 2.39%, and the index declined 2.73%.

The best performers of the session on the were RWE AG ST O.N. (DE:), which rose 0.63% or 0.160 points to trade at 25.540 at the close. Meanwhile, Beiersdorf AG O.N. (DE:) added 0.42% or 0.450 points to end at 108.400 and Vonovia SE (DE:) was up 0.30% or 0.13 points to 44.03 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (DE:), which fell 5.58% or 0.911 points to trade at 15.415 at the close. Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (DE:) declined 4.80% or 0.306 points to end at 6.071 and Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (DE:) was down 4.16% or 0.417 points to 9.618.

The top performers on the MDAX were Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (DE:) which rose 2.08% to 100.800, Innogy SE (DE:) which was up 0.51% to settle at 43.370 and Knorr-Bremse AG (DE:) which gained 0.13% to close at 84.66.

The worst performers were Evotec AG O.N. (DE:) which was down 14.88% to 20.880 in late trade, Leoni AG (DE:) which lost 7.57% to settle at 8.766 and Siltronic AG (DE:) which was down 5.87% to 57.760 at the close.

The top performers on the TecDAX were Nordex SE O.N. (DE:) which rose 12.60% to 11.040, Cancom SE O.N. (DE:) which was up 3.21% to settle at 49.540 and Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (DE:) which gained 2.08% to close at 100.800.

The worst performers were Evotec AG O.N. (DE:) which was down 14.88% to 20.880 in late trade, Jenoptik AG (DE:) which lost 9.82% to settle at 22.500 and Medigene NA O.N. (DE:) which was down 7.54% to 5.890 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 538 to 145 and 65 ended unchanged.

Shares in Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (DE:) fell to all time lows; losing 4.16% or 0.417 to 9.618. Shares in Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (DE:) rose to all time highs; gaining 2.08% or 2.050 to 100.800. Shares in Leoni AG (DE:) fell to 5-year lows; falling 7.57% or 0.718 to 8.766. Shares in Jenoptik AG (DE:) fell to 52-week lows; losing 9.82% or 2.450 to 22.500. Shares in Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (DE:) rose to all time highs; gaining 2.08% or 2.050 to 100.800. Shares in Medigene NA O.N. (DE:) fell to 3-years lows; down 7.54% or 0.480 to 5.890.

The , which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 17.34% to 22.87 a new 6-months high.

Gold Futures for December delivery was up 1.20% or 18.20 to $1532.30 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 5.22% or 2.98 to hit $54.12 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 4.76% or 2.92 to trade at $58.38 a barrel.

EUR/USD was down 0.21% to 1.1146, while EUR/GBP fell 0.19% to 0.9242.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.16% at 97.785.
