First results are in: Sterling up very slightly to $1.2780 after earlier drop

Newcastle Upon Tyne and Sunderland have announced their results, both a hold for Labour. (Keep an eye on our results tracker here.)

Sterling is now up just a hair at $1.2780, still down nearly 1.3 per cent on the day after the great British electorate appeared to inject yet more uncertainty into crucial Brexit negotiations, with exit polls pointing to a hung parliament or slim Tory majority.
