Asian currencies were largely down on Friday, with the exception of the Australian dollar
The Aussie dollar was up 0.2 per cent on its US counterpart at $0.7597.
South Korea’s won was faring badly, however, down 0.6 per cent at Won1,130.48 per dollar. The yen was 0.2 per cent softer at ¥111.2 ahead of the Bank of Japan’s interest rate decision and monetary policy statement, expected around midday local time.
Outside the region the pound was firmer, gaining 0.2 per cent on the dollar to $1.2782.
The dollar index measuring the greenback against a basket of peers was flat at 97.474.
